About Temwa

Community-led change in northern Malawi

A farmer in northern Malawi harvesting leafy greens from a thriving vegetable plot

In Malawi, we work in Nkhata Bay North, a hard-to-reach, mountainous region, which is now one of the world’s soil loss and deforestation hotspots. All of our projects are community-driven and delivered by our in-country Malawian team, who have a deep understanding of smallholder farming communities and the challenges they face.

Together, we focus our efforts on providing food security and climate-resilient livelihoods through our sustainable farming and forestry projects. We also support girls’ education and sexual and reproductive health – improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as community-run HIV services.
